SBU detains deputy of self-proclaimed “Yevpatoria City Council”
SBU officers detained a deputy of the self-proclaimed "Yevpatoria City Council" of the occupation authorities on the checkpoint "Chaplynka" on the administrative border with the temporarily annexed AR of Crimea.
The SBU operatives established that the former deputy of the City Council of Yevpatoria participated in the illegal activity of the so-called “Crimean self-defense units” in March 2014. During the illegal annexation of the Crimean Peninsula, he participated in seizing the administrative buildings of the state authorities and local government of Ukraine.
According to the SBU materials, the offender was elected a deputy from the political party "United Russia" to the so-called "Yevpatoria City Council", set up by the occupation authorities in September 2014.
The SBU officers documented the arrival of the offender on the mainland of Ukraine where his relatives were residing.
The urgent investigative actions in the framework of the criminal proceeding initiated under Part 2 Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine are under way.
The operation was conducted under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office.
