Dnipropetrivsk region: SBU seizes record consignment of methadone (video)
SBU officers in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office uncovered a drug lab of producing especially dangerous drug (methadone) in Dnipropetrivsk region.
The law enforcers established that two residents temporarily occupied area of Donetsk region organized production of synthetic drug in a private house in Kryvyi Rih. The SBU operatives documented that the raw material for methadone production was received through the mail from one of the East Asian countries.
During searches in the drug lab, SBU officers seized over 10 kg of finished drug (valued at over UAH 10,000,000 (USD 384,000) at the “black market”) - the largest consignment in the Ukrainian history. The law enforcers also uncovered over 300 kg of ingredients and precursors, enough for producing about 100 kg of methadone. Due to the operative actions of the law enforcers, the dealers did not sell the dangerous drug.
According to the SBU information, a part of the “goods” was planned for sale on the temporary occupied territories of Donbas under the “umbrella” of the leaders of the illegal armed formations.
The law enforcers detained two organizers of drug trafficking under the Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The urgent investigative and operative actions in the framework of the initiated criminal proceeding on establishing all offenders involved in attempting to organize the drug trafficking are under way.
