Kyiv: SBU exposes group of dealers in weapons smuggled from the ATO (video)
SBU officers exposed an organized group that set up illegal transportation of weapons and ammo from the ATO area in Kyiv.
The law enforcers established that former members of one of the volunteer battalions transported weapons and parts for processing, re-equipping and further resale in Kyiv region. The offenders hid their workshops at the rented premises in Solomyanskyi district (Kyiv) and one of the factories in Kyiv-Svyatoshinskyi disrtrict.
The SBU operatives documented that offenders sold the weapons to the representatives of the criminal circles throughout the territory of Ukraine. The offenders were also involved in committing a number of crimes in the territory of Ukraine.
While conducting 12 authorized searches at the offenders’ residences and in the underground workshops, the law enforcers seized 4 anti-tank grenade launchers, 2 flame-throwers, 30 grenades, 2 large-scale shells, 3 kg of plastic explosive, 3 detonators, 6 rifles, 3 automatic weapons, 37 fire and traumatic arms and 15,000 rounds of different caliber.
The organizer and two active members of the group were served a notice of suspicion in committing the crime stipulated by Part 2 Article. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The operation was conducted jointly with the National Police and under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
