SBU exposes sale of information from State Border Guard Service databases
Cyber specialists of the Security Service of Ukraine exposed the current and former border guards in Ivano-Frankivsk region on sale of restricted information from the database of the State Border Guard Service. The clients of the involved persons were, in particular, members of criminal groups.
According to preliminary data of the investigation, the malefactors sold data on crossing the state border by citizens of Ukraine and foreigners, the term of their stay in the country and the availability of entry or exit bans.
The malefactors offered their "services" through specialized Internet services. They received payment from customers on bank cards.
Currently both offenders are served suspicion notice under Part 2 Art. 361-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The case files forwarded to court.
The operation to expose the illegal activity was conducted under the procedural guidance of the Military Prosecutor's Office of Ivano-Frankivsk garrison of the Western region.
