SBU prevents neo-Nazi attempt to arson mosque on the eve of Crimean Tatar National Flag Day and Constitution Day of Ukraine
In Odesa, the SBU stopped an attempt of neo-Nazi organization to arson a mosque on the eve of the Day of Crimean Tatar National Flag and Constitution Day of Ukraine.
Within initiated criminal proceeding, the SBU operatives documented that two neo-Nazi planned to conduct a terrorist attack in order to destabilize a social and political situation in Ukraine and overthrow the constitutional order. SBU investigators suspect Russian special services of neo-Nazi coordination.
During special operation in the night of 25 to 26 June, SBU operatives detained two offenders in downtown of Odesa during attempt to arson a mosque using two bottles with incendiary mixture. The SBU established that one of detained came to Ukraine after long-term stay in Russia.
SBU officers carried out personal inspections and searches in residences. They seized incendiary items, mobiles and notebooks with a plan of terrorist attack.
The offenders were detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The SBU served a notice of suspicion of committing the crime stipulated by Part 2 Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation is underway.
The operation was conducted under the legal supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Odesa region.
