The Security Service of Ukraine obtained new evidence of subservice
activitiesby the Russian
secret services directed at drawing Ukrainian citizens into compromising
situations and recruiting during their stay in Russia.
The SBU military counterintelligence officers identified
a resident of Izmail City who was recruited by FSB
officers for collection of military data. While earning money in Russian Maikop City he was arrested and conveyed to investigative isolation
ward allegedly for infringement of rules of foreigners’ stay in Russia. Under
pressure put on him by officers of Russian secret services the man agreed to
confidential cooperation and gave written consent. He received alias “Emelian” and was given instructions as to communication via
social networks. After that he was banished from Russia.
In a conversation with the SBU military counterintelligence officers the
man told that five Izmail residents had also been
arrested in Maikop together with him. They were
interrogated by FSB officers who were especially interested in places of
military service and locations of military units. Some time
later they were also banished from the Russian Federation.
