International Advisory Group for the SBU Reform was established

The SBU Head Vasyl Hrytsak held a meeting with officials from NATO Liaison Office and the EU Advisory Mission for Civilian Security Sector Reform.

During the meeting the parties agreed to establish a permanent International Advisory Group for the SBU Reform, consisting of the  EU Advisory Mission for Civilian Security Sector Reform representatives, foreign advisers from the NATO Liaison Office in Ukraine, employees from NATO Information and  Documentation Center in Ukraine, other international organizations and leading foreign and national experts in this sector.

The main task is the expert support of the SBU reformation process through consultations, which will help with improvement of legislation, development of prospective model of the SBU taking into consideration best political and legal practices of the EU and NATO member-states, as well as elaboration of the reform implementation package.

This group will start its work with analysis of the current legislature in the national security sector.  In this context, the Security Service of Ukraine would like express gratitude to the Geneva Center for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces for preparation and publication of the English version of laws, which regulate the activity in defense sector of Ukraine.
